Nova Scotia’s Auditor General has made 10 recommendations to improve the Office of Addictions and Mental Health. It was established in 2021 to address increased mental health needs during the pandemic. The auditor general found that it is not providing effective oversight of mental health and addiction services, and, five years after its establishment, the auditor says the office lacks service access standards and does not know the full range of mental health and addiction services and service locations in the province.
