Progressive Conservative leader Tim Houston made announcements yesterday on education. He says if re-elected his party would build four new schools in HRM and replace aging facilities across the province. He also promised to expand the free lunch program for elementary school students and ensure two school safety officers in schools. The NDP unveiled its party platform. Leader Claudia Chender proposes to build 30,000 new affordable homes, along with plans to increase the minimum wage. Liberal leader Zach Churchill was critical of the NDP platform saying it focuses on short-term spending with little economic sustainability.
