Environment and Climate Change Canada has released 600 bright orange blocks to figure out where dead seabirds may wash up along the coast. The blocks were released near Sable Island and off northern Cape Breton. Several have GPS trackers. Birders and beachgoers are being asked to report where and when they are spotted in order to track seabird deaths and illnesses, such as avian flu, and oil spills.
