The Town of Lunenburg, mayor and council, will be celebrating volunteers this Thursday. The Volunteer Appreciation event is being held on Thursday evening at 6:00 at the Lunenburg and District Fire Hall. One outstanding volunteer will be named the Representative Volunteer of the Year and will be honoured at the Provincial Volunteer Awards. Meanwhile, the province is encouraging nominations for the 2026 Provincial Volunteer Awards. Categories include the Newcomer Volunteer Award, Youth Volunteer Award, and the Nova Scotia Strong Award. Award winners will be recognized at the 52nd annual Provincial Volunteer Awards ceremony in Halifax on September 28.
