Man dies after being shot by RCMP in Chelsea

The suspect in an investigation earlier this week in Chelsea has died of his wounds after being shot by an RCMP officer. The province’s Serious Incident Response Team says officers were responding to a report of a man in possession of a gun. The man was located, and an officer discharged their firearm, hitting the man.  Despite first aid attempts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. In its release yesterday, the RCMP says the suspect was the same person who was the subject of an Alert Ready emergency alert in Lunenburg and Queens County on Wednesday evening. The RCMP release did not say the suspect had died at the scene, only saying that he had suffered an “injury consistent with a gunshot wound”. SIRT says that because this is an ongoing investigation, they will not be releasing any further details at this time.
