The province will spend $6.5 million on four new fixed-wing water bombers and a coordination plane in preparation for the summer wildfire season. The contract will run until September 30th. Premier Tim Houston says that as wildfire seasons become more intense, firefighting teams must have access to the best resources. Three air attack officers will be hired to coordinate aircraft during wildfires at a cost of $300,000.
