The province’s departing freedom of information officer says legislation tabled by the government weakens the public’s access to government records and documents. Tricia Ralph says the omnibus bill contains language that is too broad and allows departments to refuse requests. Ralph also says the bill contains an amendment that demands applicants include details such as precise times and locations of the events in the information being sought. Ralph’s term in office ends this week.
