The provincial legislature returned with a petition calling on the province to restore its ban on uranium mining. The petition, which had 10,000 signatures, had an additional 2,000 names added when it was presented on Tuesday. While no new uranium mines have opened, the Houston government repealed the ban in March 2025. Premier Tim Houston says uranium is mined safely in other areas and that developing the province’s natural resources can only help the province’s economy.
