Tipping and overtime rules were the provincial government's first order of business. That means the overtime threshold would drop from 48 to 44 hours, and employees would qualify for overtime when it's voluntary rather than employer-mandated. For employees who work for tips on top of a wage, the legislation protects against tip theft, ensuring employees who earned the tip receive it. The new rules will take effect on April 1st of next year.
