We will get a tax holiday next month. The government has announced that the GST and HST will be removed from dozens of items at checkout beginning December 15th and lasting until mid-February. Some items that GST/HST won’t be charged on are prepared meals from grocery stores including fruit and vegetable trays, snacks, children’s clothes, footwear, car seats, diapers, restaurant meals, beer, wine and pre-mixed cocktails. The government also announced that every Canadian who worked in 2023 and made less than $150,000 will get $250 from the government in the spring.
